Alexa Meade – Painted Humans

She needs little introduction; She has already carved her name in the art world. She paints directly on models/subjects to turn 3D objects into an illusion of a 2D image. Basically, “a photo of a painting of a person, and the real person hidden somewhere underneath.”  She uses acrylic paints to create her masterpieces. She successfully combines painting, props and photography to make an unconventional form of art. When asked how she came about creating such a unique style of painting, she says that it was her “lack of formal education” that allowed her to think out of the box. She says that paintings need not always be done on a canvas or paper. Alexa Meade has gained massive recognition starting way back in 2010 when her living paintings went viral. She went on to get CNN coverage and also gave a speech at TED Global in 2013. Meade’s artwork has been put on display in various galleries around the world such as Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.; the Saatchi Gallery in London; Postmaster’s Gallery in New York City; Galerie Ivo Kamm in Zurich; the Exploratorium in San Francisco; the Grand Palais as part of Art Paris; and the Pinacothèque de Paris. She also debuted her “milk series” along with artist Sheila. Recently Alexa Meade won BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM at the Toronto International Short  Film Festival.

A world by me – by Carson Arias

To be a Visual Editor, one needs to have brilliant imagination: a quality that only few posses. One should be able to take any scene from a movie (etc) and be able to extrapolate it to unimaginable things. Carson, from Indonesia, has managed to master this extrapolation. He says that he loves fantasy and still reads bedtime stories from which he draws inspiration. Most of his edits are based on fairytales, bedtime stories, sci-fi movies, and urban legends around the world. He jokes that he should rather be called “Fantasy Editor.”
